Baby Birds
Spring time has arrived and all the birds are singing but that is not a good thing if the birds are in your house. Birds are not only very loud but they can smell really bad, carry potentially dangerous diseases and also carry bird mites. The best thing to do once you have determined that you do indeed have baby birds in the attic bathroom dryer vent is to contact a bird removal professional.
We are starting to get a lot of calls for baby birds in the attic bathroom dryer vent. If you have a two story house and the birds are in between the floors this can be a very difficult situation and in some cases sheet rock may have to be cut. Worst case scenario is the birds have punctured the flex duct in between the floors and have full access to the void between the floors. Most likely nature will have to run its course before the birds can be excluded humanely. If the bathroom vent is on the second floor in the attic then this allows much easier access to the birds and the duct can actually be replaced without any cutting of drywall. It is our recommendation that the duct be replaced because of the potential for disease even after the birds have vacated.
After the birds are gone then all the attic bathroom dryer vents need to be sealed up on the outside to prevent future bird infestations. The exhaust vent for the laundry dryer vent should not be sealed for safety reasons. If the lint were to back up in the cover then that could create a fire hazard. If you are running your laundry dryer on a regular basis then birds will not nest in that area because of the high heat that is emitted.
